Using REC means agreeing to these terms.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a contract between you and Aran Labs LLC ("Aran Labs," "REC," "we," or "us"), the company behind REC Content Studio. By creating an account, accessing the preview, or using the service in any way, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy and Acceptable Use Policy, which are part of this agreement.
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. If you use REC on behalf of a company or other organization, you confirm that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
You are responsible for your account and how it is used.
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity that happens under your account. Tell us right away if you believe your account has been accessed without authorization.
REC is currently invite-based during preview. We can approve, decline, suspend, or revoke access requests at our discretion, including after approval.
You confirm you have the right to record.
REC helps you record video interviews with yourself, guests, or other interviewees. Before you start any recording, you confirm that you have all consents required under applicable law to record and use the audio, video, and likeness of every person appearing in the session, including yourself and any guest.
You are solely responsible for complying with wiretapping, consent-to-record, and similar laws in your jurisdiction and the jurisdiction of anyone you record. REC has no way to verify consent and takes no responsibility for recordings made without proper authorization.
Interviewees keep their own rights in the conversation.
People who appear in your recordings but do not hold a REC account ("interviewees") retain their own privacy, publicity, and data protection rights. Using REC to record someone does not transfer or waive those rights, and you agree to honor any request an interviewee makes to you directly regarding their appearance, likeness, or personal data.
If an interviewee contacts us directly about a recording you made, we may need to act on that request — including restricting or removing the content — even if you have not asked us to.
REC researches using public sources, and that research can be wrong.
To prepare a dossier and interview questions, REC may search publicly available web sources about the identity or topic you provide, then send that material and your supplied context to Anthropic's AI models. This research reflects what is publicly findable at the time of the request — it is not verified, fact-checked, or comprehensive.
Do not submit confidential, regulated, or third-party material you are not comfortable using in an AI-assisted research workflow. You are responsible for reviewing and verifying any research, questions, or claims before you rely on them, publish them, or act on them.
AI-generated output can be incomplete or inaccurate.
REC uses AI models, including Anthropic's Claude, to generate research summaries, interview questions, optional live follow-up questions, and highlight recommendations. AI-generated content can be incomplete, outdated, biased, or simply wrong, and it does not represent professional advice of any kind.
You are responsible for reviewing all AI-generated output before you rely on it, publish it, or share it with others. We disclaim responsibility for decisions made based on AI-generated content.
You own what you create. You let us host and process it.
You retain ownership of the recordings, transcripts, research material, and clips you create using REC ("your content"). You grant Aran Labs a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, store, process, transmit, and display your content solely to operate, maintain, and improve the service for you — for example, storing your recording, generating a transcript, or rendering a clip you request.
This license ends when you delete the relevant content or close your account, subject to the retention and deletion terms in our Privacy Policy. We do not use your content to train AI models, and we do not sell your content to third parties.
Some uses of REC are not allowed.
You may not use REC to create, store, or distribute content that is illegal, that infringes someone else's intellectual property or privacy rights, that harasses, threatens, or defames any person, or that is fraudulent, deceptive, or intended to impersonate someone without disclosure.
You may not use REC to record or research a minor without appropriate parental or guardian consent, to circumvent another person's stated refusal to be recorded, or for any purpose prohibited by our Acceptable Use Policy. We can remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section, with or without notice.
Pro is a recurring subscription billed through Stripe.
REC offers monthly and annual Pro subscriptions processed by Stripe. The account billing screen shows the configured price, currency, billing cadence, trial status, and tax treatment before you continue to Checkout, and Stripe shows the final total before payment. Subscriptions renew automatically at the disclosed cadence unless you cancel first. All payment information is handled directly by Stripe — we do not store your full card details.
You can cancel anytime from your account's billing settings. When you cancel, you keep access to Pro features through the end of the billing period you already paid for; we do not provide partial or prorated refunds for unused time. Fees are otherwise non-refundable except where required by law. We may change subscription pricing going forward, and will give you notice before a price change applies to your next renewal.
Either of us can end this relationship.
You can stop using REC and close your account at any time. We can suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, our Acceptable Use Policy, or applicable law, if required by a processor or payment partner, or if we discontinue the service, with notice where reasonably possible.
On termination, your right to use REC ends immediately. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination — including content licensing wind-down, disclaimers, and limitation of liability — continue to apply.
REC is provided "as is," and our liability is capped.
REC is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI-generated output will be accurate.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Aran Labs LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of REC. Our total liability for any claim arising out of these Terms or the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.
Delaware law governs this agreement.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. You agree that any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of REC will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there.
We may update these Terms as the product evolves.
We may revise these Terms from time to time as REC changes. If we make a material change, we will post the updated Terms here with a new effective date and, where practical, notify account holders directly. Continuing to use REC after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
